The Poem
It’s summer camp nights and friendship bracelets,
it’s the whispers of a first crush and the girls weekends where
magic and mystery and spilled secrets find refuge.
It’s the chasing of big dreams and the confessing of who you really are beneath
all the costumes and masks and layers,
only to be wrapped around with those
beautifully kind words,
“I know” and “me too.”
It’s the talking of growing old together,
and more importantly,
the knowing
that you mean it.
It’s the walking together
through every season,
both the golden and the thunderous,
a life lived in decades,
a friendship lived in moments,
but most importantly
a vow;
to witness each other’s footprints
both in this life
and the next.
